While praised for opening up the independent film market and making it financially viable, Harvey Weinstein has been condemned by some for the ruthless methods he had allegedly applied in his business dealings. He has an ‘all about success and nothing more’ mentality which often gets him into trouble especially when he cuts a person’s film without the person’s consent for example, the director of princess Mononoke, Hayeo Miyazaki, warned Weinstein via a mail not to cut his movie but this man still went ahead to cut the movie. When Miyazaki confronted him, Weinstein bombarded him with aggressive attacks while complaining that he has reasons for making cuts. So Weinstein is a kind of guy who would breach an agreement so as to make money and get awards. To me, this part is very annoying because it encourages what I call ‘industrial crime’ which reflects all illegal actions taken by business tycoons in order to keep their bank accounts growing and this can be quite lethal or traumatizing since they do not care who gets hurt.
